Holztresor translates "Wooden Safe", and is a unique version of the famous Rubik's Cube imagined by the famous Dutch designer Oskar van Devanter (Oskar's Treasure Chest) and made by Jean-Claude Constantin.
Here, there are no colored plastic pieces, but each of the six faces features a specific wood variety.
Aside from learning to solve the Rubik's cube using wood grains, this Rubik's Cube hides within it a secret cavity ideal for containing small gifts. The puzzle can be totally shuffled like a normal Rubik's Cube, but only when it is solved can its lid pop open to reveal the hiding place inside. The secret compartment inside measures approximately 4 cm in diameter.
A great variation made in laser-cut wood and plastic by Jean-Claude Constantin. Jean-Claude Constantin lives in Germany, where he designs and manufactures many different wood and metal puzzle, as well as magic tricks.
