Every year I look for new puzzle boxes for gifting cash to tweens and teens. This box is beautiful, but unusable as we received it. Had to pry the end piece of wood from the box and sand the edges the piece actually slides into place as intended. Grateful for an engineering community in this house! Otherwise it would have needed to be returned.

The puzzle itself is a lot of fun, I would highly recommend this from a puzzle/solving perspective. My rating isn't higher because the build quality leaves something to be desired, I had one piece fall off on initial handling. The mechanism itself seems strong and robust, but the decorative elements are glued on and it may not make the best gift. One other small issue, the tolerance on the box seems means you can see some of the mechanism on mine, but I think that is just a part of finding the solution.
