Product Info
Earn a gold star with the Cast Medal metal puzzle, a challenging and intricate brain teaser that will put your problem solving skills to the test. This 3D puzzle is designed to resemble a miniature medal, with detailed craftsmanship and a sturdy metal construction.
You've achieved success once you can remove the ring that is in the salmon's mouth. With no instructions or obvious solution, you'll need to use your wits to figure out how to disassemble and then reassemble this puzzle. Perfect as a gift for the puzzle lover in your life or a challenging treat for yourself.
This puzzle was designed by British puzzle creator, James Dalgety, after the legend of the Ring and the Salmon, which figures on the coat of arms of Glasgow City.
Note: Our level rating system is different than Hanayama's. Hanayama's level 1 is equivalent to our level 5, their level 6 is equivalent to our level 10.

I found this puzzle trickier than level 2 (6 here). I even found the alternate solution, which uses only one hole of the second medal, and checked the original solution to find out what I was looking for but did not find by myself. The story for this puzzle is very interesting, the solution is unexpected, the material is proper for this puzzle. Overall - a wonderful puzzle!
I haven't found a Hanayama puzzle I don't like. For a 2 star rating, it took me longer to figure out than I thought it would. I solved this after 5 days of on-and-off tinkering. Like the rest of the series, the Cast Medal is very well made and satisfying to play with.
I just fell in love with this one. It is so beautiful! Very sturdy, very well made. And it has a little bit of a history too, perfect to entertain friends after dinner. The puzzle in itself is not the hardest, by far, but is is very brilliant nonetheless. You will definitely feel a sense of achievement after solving it.
A nice puzzle I found slightly harder than many other 2-star Hanayamas. Some tight tolerances are required, but the puzzle is very thick and solid and the rings sturdy. I discovered that there are actually two ways to solve this puzzle, one of them is shorter but involves a very tight move which is hard to line up (this solution uses only one hole in the plate with 7 holes). The longer solution is the one given in the solution page.
