Product Info

Backgammon is believed to be the oldest known recorded board game in history.  It is an exciting checker-style game with simple rules for two players. The checkers are placed on the playing board in a specific predetermined arrangement. The roll of the dice determines your available moves. You might be able to play it safe, or go for a risky advance!  The first player to bear off all their checkers wins the game.

This exquisite set is made of Walnut burl. The heartwood of the tree can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown wavy grains.  The playing field is a combination of walnut with oak & black color points.

It has been handmade using the art of marquetry (also spelled as marqueterie) which is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns and designs. Skillful workers use this method in order to create the inside design of the backgammon.
