Designer Alexander Magyarics writes about his design:

2D and 3D packing problems are my favourites, especially those with only a few pieces, together with a sufficient level of difficulty. I hope you will like Pincers and add it to your collection. You do not need to create the illusion of a full cube inside (like we all do with amazing packing designs by Osanori). Just fit the three pieces below the top layer. So what is the clue here? – the shapes of the pieces and box opening. Study them well to eliminate a huge number of possible assemblies (83) to fit in 3x3x3 cube. There is only one solution and the disassembly level is 9.4.3 without any rotational moves. . Have fun with this puzzle.

This puzzle was crafted in Europe with absolutely fantastic quality. Each of the puzzles of Pelikan design are unparalleled in their class!
Every piece of the puzzle is precisely cut and very well made;  you cannot find its equal anywhere else. The diversity in wood makes each puzzle a unique masterpiece.

Difficulty: 16 (9.4.3) No rotational moves required.  The brackets indicate the breakdown of moves to free each piece sequentially.
Made in a combination of beautifully contrasting Cherry & Ovangkol woods.

I am learning something about my cognition and spatial reasoning and it's not a good thing. I had tried many ways to get this puzzle to fit the three pieces into the box so that no piece is sticking out. Finally I had to watch the solution video and it seems so simple! What's interesting to me is that I had tried so many ways to solve this. There is a tendency, I think, to not see "outside the box" so to speak, and then to repeat oneself rather than trying something quite different. Now that I know how it works (and I had to pause the expanatory video a few times to get it) I will take it apart, put it away, and see if, in a few months, I can figure it out without resorting to a solution video. I'll also see if a friend can solve it faster than I could (which doesn't mean the friend is SMARTER)
