Product Info

Blast off into the world of puzzling with the Cast UFO from Hanayama Huzzle, a great puzzle to solve using inspiration and logic. This mind bending metal mechanical UFO puzzle will challenge your problem solving skills. This 3D puzzle features a unique design that requires you to think creatively and use your spatial reasoning to solve it.

Your mission is to separate the entire puzzle into six pieces, the ring into two pieces and the middle piece in four pieces. When you try to take out the spherical pieces that are in the center, they move around and run away, so the solution is hard to grasp. With its sturdy construction and challenging solution, the Cast UFO is a must have for any puzzle enthusiast. This space themed puzzle is from Finnish designer Vesa Timonen.

I am sure a lot of us love the shape and mystery of a UFO flying saucer, and bought this partly for that reason - however it should not be sold. I believe the puzzles should be something you figure out rather than get lucky to discover as with this one. Ultimately, even after I got it apart I can't put it back together despite knowing how it works. The parts just fit together too awkwardly. Not enjoyable to continue solving and putting it back together at all.

Very tricky puzzle. Reassembly was just as tricky as well. So much so that it’s probably not a Hanayama that I would resolve again.

I'm not sure what to make of this one. Based on other reviews, I thought maybe I had one of the "tight" ones, and worked it open with a tool. After examining it, I see that the tolerances are reasonably loose, you just have to get the alignment right. What makes that extra challenging is that there are some subtle differences between the internal parts. One difference can be noticed with close examination, but the other is entirely hidden IMO. Without knowledge of that hidden difference, you must rely on luck to orient the parts correctly. I don't care for a puzzle where you can only find the answer with an element of luck. So, 4 out of 5 stars. Otherwise, it's a beautiful object, satisfying to hold and work with. I would rate it one level harder, 5 of 6 Hanayama scale, 9 of 10 P.M. scale.

Nice looking, fun puzzle, only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because it definitely is not a level 4, more like a 9/10.....👍🧐

Design is great, solution is near impossible to find out on your own. Even after I was shown how to disassemble it, I was still unable to do it. The clearances on the pieces are so tight that it is nearly impossible to get apart.

The puzzle looks interesting but takes it apart is painful. I was looking for a solution for a very long time, I found out the key points that you need to know in order to unravel. But I couldn't take the puzzle apart. When my fingers started to hurt, I started looking for a solution on the Internet, and even after that, with great difficulty, I managed to take this thing apart. Even if you know how to disassemble this puzzle, it is still difficult. What can we say about the process of finding a solution ... Therefore, we can say that the puzzle is difficult, but not because it is difficult to find a solution, but because it is difficult to take it apart.

Don't be fooled by it's pretty exterior, this puzzle is ugly on the inside... Cast UFO doesn't seem to be designed well enough for Hanayama's casting process. As the other reviews state, there is a good chance the copy you get will not come apart! I have been attempting to disassemble WITH the solution for over a week now, and I'm confident mine is a brick that will never open. Aside from taking a screwdriver to it. Even if mine worked, I have to say the solution is more "luck" based than I'd like. The puzzle doesn't give you enough information to solve it entirely by logic, leading you to slide the pieces around aimlessly. On top of that the pieces are frustrating and slippery to move around. This adds up to a frustrating puzzling experience with the only real positive being "It looks pretty". If you want the same idea but with better execution/design, try the cast DIAL, MARBLE, or my personal favorite DONUTS instead.

I have a friend with the same puzzle, we got it at the same time. We both worked on our side, he eventually found the solution, so we met and he showed it to me. I tried the solution on mine, it didn't work, he tried, it didn't work. So we googled the solution online, tried it, it didn't work. Feels like I got a broken one. Also the solution is not satisfying and is particularly frustrating (for me), I wouldn't recommend it.
